Churros Fried to Perfection
Fried Churros are one of my all time favorite indulgences. I became obsessed with them on my first trip to Disneyland when I was just a tid. At the beginning of quarantine, Disney released their Churro recipe and I had every intention of making them..but then I got caught up with this cookbook cook-though and I never got around to it. However, I knew I was going to make churros eventually, MasterChef Junior Style. These definitely did not disappoint, but I still plan on making the Disney ones in the near future.
You wouldn’t know just by looking at them, but they actually have marshmallows in the churros themselves. I was nervous that by adding them, it would clog the star tip while piping the churros, but they piped out just fine. This is the second MCJ dessert that incorporated toasted marshmallows. The Cupcakes with Chocolate Ganache and Toasted Marshmallows were divine, and so were these s’more-ish churros.
The next time I make churros, I need to figure out to make them as straight as they are at Disneyland. All mine started to curve, which is okay because what really matters is how they taste, right? I also want to make some boozy dipping sauces!
I can’t wait to play around with some of my own recipes in the future, especially since now I can be confident in working with choux pastry dough (which definitely intimidated me prior to trying this recipe, afraid as always.) I’m so thankful for all the baking techniques I’ve learned in this cook-though. I only have one more MCJ dessert.
